I was working this weekend, so once again I find myself playing catch-up with this weeks make. I have always prided myself on my time-keeping…seems I am not as good as I like to think I am!
Anyhow – onwards and upwards! Here is the latest contribution to my 52 weeks of creativity – a moon and stars mobile upon which I have embroidered ‘Sweet Dreams’
The padded moon and stars are made from lovely soft wool felt, and I used blue embroidery thread (kindly donated by a friend who no longer stitches due to arthritis) to add the wording. I also used blue thread to hand-stitch the stars to tie it all together.
I recently had a conversation with a friend who had applied to sell via ‘Not on the High Street‘ who told me that they (NOTHS) are particularly keen on products that can be personalised. This made a lot of sense to me as one of the appeals of shopping small or choosing handmade over mass-manufactured is that you’ll get something unique and personal.
So with that conversation in my mind, I stitched this with the view that a name could also be embroidered. A further personalisation could be adding the date of birth & maybe the weight of baby to the stars.
