Week Eighteen: 52 Weeks Of Creativity

I realised that one of the reasons that I’m consistently a bit late hitting my self-imposed deadline of Sunday evening for each weeks make,  is that I’m biting off a little more than I can chew.

So for this week I thought I would opt for something a little bit simpler – in part because I have been away for a few days gallivanting around London – so my making time was considerably reduced.

The idea for a series of cards based on the signs of the zodiac has been stored in my brain for a wee while and as I thought it ticked the relatively ‘simple’ box, this week I decided to turn the idea into a reality.

I’ve stitched the constellations onto lovely and soft wool felt using Sashiko thread given to me by a friend. The name has been hand stamped onto cotton bias binding using my old John Bull printing press. This has been hand stitched onto the felt with a couple of star shaped sequins for added detail.

However… it seems that I just can’t stop myself from going all out – so my initial plan of just making one or two of these zodiac cards to hit this weeks deadline was soon ignored and all 12 had to be stitched!
