Last week I popped into one of my fantastic stockists – TigerLily in Ludlow to deliver some Fathers Day cards, and whilst there I couldn’t resist treating myself to one of their ace Panama hats for the summer.
Traditionally worn by chaps in warmer climes sporting linen suits and loafers – I might be stereo-typing a tad here..probably caused by watching too many Humphrey Bogart films! It is a tad masculine looking and I decided to prettify it a tad for this weeks challenge.
The black band has been really well stitched on, so rather than risking damaging the fabric and structure of the hat by removing it I opted to stitch some soft pink lace over the top, and added a focal point with a big multi-layered felt flower in a stronger shade of pink.
Digging through my stash of buttons, I found the perfect pink flower shape and popped that into the middle to finish it all off…and voila. Now I just need Mother Nature to provide some sunshine!
